Wood-Fired Lotus Leaf Dish – Bright Flame
Wood-Fired Lotus Leaf Dish – Bright Flame
Verfügbarkeit für Abholungen konnte nicht geladen werden
This small dish by Shigeyoshi Morioka is shaped in the form of a lotus leaf, with hand-carved vein lines radiating from a gently charred center. Fired unglazed in a multi-chamber wood kiln, it bears a luminous firemark—an ash-gray bloom that appears to float above the clay’s warm orange skin.
Every line is quiet, every curve unforced. Like its twin, it is not merely a dish, but a gesture—a piece of fire-preserved nature, made still by hand.

Shigeyoshi Morioka
Shigeyoshi Morioka is a revered potter working in the mountain village of Amano, Wakayama. Firing in multi-chamber wood kilns, he creates vessels that span from rugged and elemental to serene and introspective. With a deep sensitivity to clay, ash, and flame, Morioka’s work reflects decades of practice and presence. His influence extends quietly but profoundly across generations of Japanese and international ceramic artists. Each piece carries earth, fire, and time—held in form, never forced.
