Why we founded Ceramic Villa?

Ceramic Villa was born from a longing — a longing to see the beauty of thousand-year-old craftsmanship once again shine in the world.

We are three founders from China: from Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital, and Hangzhou, the origin of the Silk Road. Since childhood, we’ve been captivated by traditional Chinese culture and craft. But we’ve also watched the world grow faster, louder, and more forgetful. Objects became cheaper, easier to discard. And with that, the connection between people and the things they use—and between people and nature—seemed to fade.

We later studied in the UK and the US. There, we found that to many in the West, “Made in China” often meant mass-produced, disposable things. While Japan, our East Asian neighbor and cultural cousin, is admired for its dedication to craftsmanship, China’s own five-thousand-year heritage often remains hidden, unrecognized.

But shouldn’t a piece—shaped with love, refined through inspiration, carved by hand for hours or even days—be seen, cherished, and connected with its destined owner?

When we place these handmade pieces from Jingdezhen and beyond in our homes, we feel joy—but also a quiet sorrow that these artists, with all their skill and heart, remain invisible to the world.

So we created Ceramic Villa:

  • A platform that brings together master artisans across China
  • To share their stories
  • To let their voices be heard
  • To let their skill be known—not just for technique, but for the soul within the work

We hope people around the world will experience the beauty of handmade objects—feel a quiet spark of connection, and maybe, find a piece that speaks to them.

My friend, if you long to be moved by the texture of clay or wood,
by the calm of a well-made bowl,
or by the soul of something small—this space is for you.

And we thank you, sincerely.
Whether or not you find something that speaks to you here,
your presence means the world to us.
